My comment is a practical question, how to determine what an "experienced rider" is? Would there be some guideline provided or would respondents decide whether they felt they were experienced?

But it seems we have to begin a bit carefully so we are forming this in the best way.
Truly there is an unmet need but it seems to me
the real question how large potentially is the demand.

If sportifs in Europe are any indication, a great deal of demand can be created.

One question I am always asking myself, why does this need to be done?
Why not stick with the nycc structure.
To me, the answer is that the nycc organization is too far away from what we are talking about to be able to support it. If we really want to develop it we must go separately.

Anyway, the fun part is key.

What is 'fun' anyway. It's hard to say,
but you know when you are having it!

This sounds very well to me. Thank you for your trust sharing this idea.

In addition I'd like to read a sentence about the fun aspect besides
all serious training (or better said: within the training) - you
know what I mean: exactly the way we both are riding together, hard
but with a lot of fun.
I would also like to see this change:

We would like to appeal to racers, high performance non racers and also
triathletes **who have good bike handling and pacelining skills.**

**People who take their cycling seriously but don't take themselves too seriously. And no whiners.**

I agree that this is needed. Note this post on today's NYCC message board:

I've also been looking for a group like this to ride with in NYC, or at least one that rotates keeping a steady pace. Haven't found one yet.

It's goal will be to attract experienced riders who are interested in good hard rides of varying length. The rides might be categorized as tempo, points sprints, intervals, time trial, etc. The rides would not always be leg breakers. Less experienced riders would learn from those more experienced.

being served in NYC.

A common theme would be the improvement of one's own cycling. The format will
be both individual or group riding: in pack, paceline, and individual
formations. Frequent measuring of one's own fitness will be a cornerstone of
the group. It will not preclude membership in any existing cycling organizations.
