Math lessons created automatically save teachers time.
Numerous lessons are available and can be mixed and matched to complement any text book series you are using. Because the data shown by the graphs is about their own riding (or walking) and contest, the students have great interest in them. Active students are more effective learners. It is easy to start contests and once they are going, almost no further teacher effort is required. The lessons are automatically generated with live contest graphs. Targeted grades are 5th and 6th. Lessons implement the national standards based curriculum of National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. These lessons help prepare students to meet the challenges of the No Student is Left Behind national guidelines.

The BikeWithMe Wellness Challenge
This site organizes bike riding contests between classrooms, to see which class can ride the most mileage. Riding is done after school hours. Each student enters the miles they ride into the website. Family members and teachers are also encourage to participate. A weekly math lesson teaching standards-based worksheets keep everyone up to date. Riding is fun and easy on the joints. Encouraged everyone to do frequent short, easy rides every week. Bicycling is one of the best ways to meet new nationally mandated wellness programs. Walking is now also included in the contests. One mile walked or run is equal to five miles of biking.

Inspired by the Cycling Way of Life &Helping in a Nation-Wide Struggle with Obesity
BikeWithMe includes profiling and other self-assessment areas which help individuals (and groups) to better understand their own beliefs, motivations, and wants, to help them make changes in how they live in order to become healthier. We all together are in the struggle against the potential effects of obesity. Today's young generation, especially, are even more at risk for developing diabetes during their lifetime. Almost no one is active enough. Biking is one of the best activities a person can take up for a lifetime of exercise. |
