Chaperoned Bike Trains

image

Bike Trains are groups of students who ride to and from school each day in a group. The bike train increases the visibiliity of the riders making everyone safer.

Parents lead the bike trains
Parents from the neighborhood sign up online to lead the bike trains to and from school. Even the parents get some exercise

Bike train miles Are included in school contests
Everyone's mileage for riding in the bike train is counted towards school riding contests. There are even graphs which break out commuting riding from other types of riding.

Bike Trains are easy to start
The Bike Trains service is part of the School Bike Riding Program ("SBRP"). To start bike trains, when the students sign up to start riding for contests, the parents will be invited to also participate. As parents are registering for contests, they will also be offered the chance to lead bike trains. Parents will either create a new bike train for your neighborhood, or join an existing one if someone else has already created one.

Bike trains can:

  • Track who is biking and route where
  • Organize chaperones and bike train scheduling
  • Collect extensive online data to track community involvement
  • Prepare statistical data to show the NEED for a Safe Routes to School Program
  • Motivate EVERYONE to ride
